It’s no secret that Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. And its natural landscape is so unique that it feels like you’re on another planet!

Iceland’s landscapes are made up of coastlines where black-sand beaches sometimes give way to steep cliffs, a paradise for seabirds. As soon as you venture into the valleys, waterfalls and cascades follow one after another. They’re impressive for their height and flow. Further inland lies the realm of mountains, powerful winds, and an extreme climate.

Iceland’s geographical location makes it a unique island where the warm currents of the Gulf Stream mingle with Arctic winds. The south brings warmth, the north brings cold, and nature harmoniously blends these two opposing forces.
From this location emerged hot springs gushing from the earth’s core, storms that make life in Iceland a constant challenge, and rock formations that have inspired countless myths and legends.

Wildlife photo trips to Iceland

What we love most of all is seeing wildlife in all its glory!

While Iceland is known for its magnificent landscapes and unique natural sights, not enough is said about its exceptional Icelandic wildlife.
Iceland is, first and foremost, a paradise for arctic foxes. We offer a photography tour dedicated to this species—but that’s not all! Millions of seabirds and land birds breed on the island every summer. From the Atlantic puffin to the razorbill, including the golden plover and ducks such as the common eider and the harlequin duck, Iceland is a haven of peace and, indeed, a paradise for wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts in general.

In the summer, we focus on Arctic foxes, seabirds, and cetaceans (humpback whales, minke whales, orcas…), while winter is the ideal time to observe wild reindeer, harbor seals, and the bird species that overwinter on the island.

Photographing Arctic animals in such unique landscapes is the goal of our wildlife photography trip to Iceland.

Iceland’s Wildlife

Iceland’s wildlife is rich and unique. It includes survivors of the last ice age, such as the Arctic fox and the rock ptarmigan. However, some animals, like the reindeer, were introduced by humans, even though they are now entirely wild.

The Arctic fox is the only land mammal in Iceland. But it is not the only mammal we observe. Harbor seals are very curious during our photography workshops. And it is common to spot a humpback whale, a minke whale, or orcas during the boat crossing.

Iceland is one of the wildest places we know. That’s why we chose this area for our Arctic fox photography tour.

Our Ethical Approach in a Nutshell

As mentioned above, we never visit places where animals are fed by humans. Our motto is: no interaction with wildlife!
We stick to this same philosophy even when animals are not very shy (such as the Icelandic arctic fox) and approach us.

Respecting wildlife also means ensuring we leave places exactly as we found them. We take our trash with us and avoid damaging vegetation outside our camp. In fact, we never cut down trees or shrubs. We are there to observe, learn, and bear witness to nature in its free and wild state.
